Mt Isa is an outback regional city. I know some people love to live in places like Mt Isa, but for me it is just another place you would come to for work, very hot and isolated. Having said that I absolutely love the desert landscapes out here. Those Spinifex covered rocky hills with all their colours and textures are beautiful.

They do things a little bit differently out here. Sunday is family day, everything (as in everything) is closed. That’s OK whatever rings their bells. The day after Sunday I arrived was the Queen’s holiday and guess what, nearly everything is closed. So a couple of pleasant enough days out at Lake Moondarra passing the time for the shops to open. This is the last town/city of any size until Alice Springs.
