The first of two 5 Star rest areas on the Bruce Highway south of Cairns. This one is located in the town of Babinda and is spacious, clean and free. Babinda itself is a delightful little town and sits at the foot of Qld tallest mountain Mt Bartle Frere.

It was in Babinda that I resumed my practice of having an afternoon beer at the local hotel or at iconic pubs on-route.

Babinda was the base for the delivery of my kayak to a customer at Fishery Falls just north of here. A tremendous relief to lose the kayak and make room for more useful things. The funds are to go toward the purchase of some hiking/camping gear.
